The award is administered by the Southern Regional Council in partnership with the University of Georgia Libraries, and DeKalb County Public Library/Georgia Center for the Book.
Named for the renowned Southern writer and activist Lillian Smith, the award recognizes distinguished books that advance understanding of race, social justice, and human rights.
